The Hunger Project

The Hunger Project (THP) is a global, non-profit organization committed to ending hunger and poverty by empowering people to lead self-reliant, sustainable lives. Operating in Africa, South Asia, and Latin America, THP collaborates with over 15 million individuals across thousands of communities to address food insecurity and foster lasting change.

THP Details:

Founded: 1977

Mission: To empower individuals, especially women, as key agents of change to sustainably end hunger and poverty.

Core Programs: Epicenter Strategy (Africa), Leadership Training (South Asia), Community-Led Development (Latin America).

Regions: 13 countries including Benin, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and Peru.

AFRICA

Epicenter Strategy: Clusters of 10-15 villages collaborate to create community centers and manage programs for microfinance, agriculture, food processing, literacy, and health care.

SOUTH ASIA

Leadership Training: Focuses on enhancing the capacity of local leaders, especially women, to work with governments and address issues like gender inequality, malnutrition, and early marriage.

LATIN AMERICA

Community-Led Development: Works with marginalized indigenous communities to overcome economic challenges and promote sustainable development.
